Ins & Outs of Interior Cleaning for Semi Trucks

Ins & Outs of Interior Cleaning for Semi Trucks

What you would never connect with luxury of any kind just 20 years ago is the heavy semi trailer truck. It often had just a small living area for its driver which consisted of a bed in the back of the cabin, built for purpose, allowing the driver much needed rest and sleep while at the side of the road or in the parking lot. That is why the interior cleaning for trucks is very important. Drivers use it as a sleeping room all the time.

With the average age of truck drivers hovering at 50, cabin comforts are a priority. Nothing makes a better impression than a clean and shining truck making its way down the highway. Just a glimpse of that bright red paint and impressively reflective chrome is exciting. Your cab won’t be a pleasant place to work and relax if it’s full of unpleasant smells. Whether it’s the odor of diesel from a spill that saturated your boots or the unpleasant remnants of a sandwich forgotten about under the seat, it needs to be removed. In any case interior cleaning for trucks is needed.

Like anything else, if you’re going to keep your truck running at its best, you need to keep it properly maintained. Part of proper maintenance is making sure the truck is washed regularly, this should include the exterior but more importantly interior cleaning for trucks. The whole idea of the truck as a second home started on the American market about a quarter of a century ago, when the truckers began to understand that as their semi trailer trucks were actually the place they spent a large part of their life, both at work and in between when traveling on consignment, they can be furnished in much the same way a caravan or motor home is.

Semi Truck Comfortability

Most professional drivers who have been on the road for many years irrevocably develop physical complaints. Bumps in the road, accelerating and slowing down, turning movements; all of these are small attacks against the driver’s physical condition. The comfort has hardly improved at all in the last few years because the passive suspension systems have not been developed any further. The dimensions of trucker’s living space depend on what else is in the 45-foot-long, side-door trailer. Permanent fixtures are a bunk bed, an ample closet, a dresser, a full-length mirror, desk and a portable toilet.

The effects of spending so much time in your semi truck can be unhealthy to your semi trucks interior. Over time, your truck may begin to smell; the leather or vinyl may dry out and become brittle; stains become eyesores; and the color of the upholstery may fade. Having food and drinks in your cabin is a prime place for bacteria. Bacteria feeds on other bacteria and moisture.

Helpful hints on interior semi truck cleaning:

  • Carpets- Vacuum gives the biggest help in interior cleaning for trucks. Using the hose attachment, vacuum the floor, including the area beneath the seats. Spread some baking soda on the carpet when you vacuum your car.
  • Windows- Clean all the windows using a window cleaner. A newspaper and a paper towel can also be a cleaner. But for tinted windows, a newspaper and a paper towel are not helpful since they might destroy the tint. Filmy windows and mirrors can obscure your view of the road.
  • Wipe Down- By using a damp cloth, you can easily wipe down your interior, getting rid of dust and other fine particles; preparing the interior for treatment. Spray a small amount of non abrasive cleaner on a towel or rag and gently wipe the dashboard, door handles and all vinyl parts. Allow to air dry.
  • Stains- Wipe up stains as soon as they happen. The longer you wait, it will be harder to remove a stain.

When You Do Interior Cleaning for Trucks Avoid These Actions:

  • Don’t use a glossy finish item on the dashboard of your car. It will cause a glare on the windshield and make it hard to see in bright sunlight.
  • Don’t wait until the semi truck’s cabin is destroyed and a disaster area.
  • Do not treat the mats with a dressing! It could be picked up by the driver’s shoes and cause slipping problems when they work the pedals.
  • Don’t leave coins on the seat. Doing so can cause premature wear of the material.
