It is important to act immediately to prevent the stains from setting deeply. Otherwise, the chocolate might stick to the upholstery fibers and make the stain removal process more difficult.

How to Remove Chocolate Stains

Step 1 – Apply Ice over the Affected Area

Doing so will harden the chocolate, making it easier to do step number 2.

Step 2 – Scrape off the Chocolate Residue

Use a dull knife to take off the hardened chocolate on the car’s upholstery. Gently lift up the chocolate residue with the knife to avoid smearing unaffected areas.

Step 3 – Make Use of Dish Soap

Put a squirt of dish soap on a clean and damp cloth. Blot the stained area carefully. Do not rub or scrub to prevent the stain from sticking to the deeper levels of the upholstery fibers.

Step 4 – Use a White, Dry Cloth

Utilize a dry, white cloth and blot it onto the damp surface till it is almost dry. Repeat steps 2 and 3 a couple of times until the area looks completely clean.

Step 5 – Sponge the Area

Use a clean cloth and dip it into clear water. Then, apply it onto the stained area so that you can remove off any of the soap residue. Blot the area dry with the help of a dry cloth.

Step 6 – Use a Dry Cleaning Solvent

If you find that you cannot remove the chocolate stains with dish soap, use a dry cleaning solvent. This is recommended for areas made of microfiber materials.

By following the above suggestions, you can free your car’s interior from chocolate stains. However, if you have real tough chocolate stains, then taking your car for professional upholstery cleaning will be your best option.
