In America, cities with a large Irish populations view St. Patrickโs Day as a very big deal, it is one of the busiest days in March. From Irelandโs ancient history of the Celts, religion, history, and culture they were passed from generation to generation through the use of stories and songs. St. Patrickโs Day is a holiday known for its parades, shamrocks and all things green, but few know the actual history behind these festive traditions. St. Patrickโs Day commemorates the death of Saint Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland.
Celebrating St. Patrickโs Day in cities around America does not differ much whether Irish or not. St. Patrickโs Day is usually done with music and a whole lot of pinching. Many saloons will open early, host live bands, offer traditional Irish foods such as corn beef and cabbage, and provide the good times for which the day is known.
