Indeed, time is at the heart of their conversations this season. Don’t miss what they have to say!
As well as popular podcast hosts, the Williams are the founders and executive leaders of DetailXPerts, a mobile cleaning company and franchise opportunity empowering entrepreneurs. With over two decades in the business, they’ve learnt how to make the best use of time. In this episode, Angela and Emmanuel also chat with educator, author and filmmaker Latoya Turner about how she found her purpose.
Time Well Spent
Everyone can relate to the notion of time whizzing by. Where did the time go? You’ve no doubt asked yourself this question more than once! So, that’s why it is so important to make the most of every minute. Angela kicks off this episode with some lessons she’s learned along the way.
As one of the 2025 Alumni Achievement Hall of Fame inductees at Central State University, Angela says, ‘Lifelong learning is time well spent.’ And this includes learning from failure. ‘Losing and facing disappointments taught me more than any win ever could. I’ve learned to embrace every opportunity as a chance to grow, whether through formal education or the curveballs life throws my way,’ says Angela. She also covers the importance of community and a support system that every entrepreneur will find invaluable.
What Does Living With Purpose Mean?
Latoya Turner also brings her insights to the conversation as a guest on the show. She strives to use her time meaningfully, which includes focusing on her values and goals. Latoya is the founder of Brown Hands Literacy, a nonprofit dedicated to teaching young people about Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). For her, living with a purpose is creating something of value. She turned her love for education into a movement. Her nonprofit business started with a question. ‘How can I plant the seed at an early age to educate kids about HBCUs? And it was through storytelling,’ says Latoya. ‘And now I’m doing nonprofit work because I love giving back.’
The Power of Hustle
During this episode, Latoya also shares tips on how to make things happen. If you want to fulfil your purpose, you’ve got to be prepared to hustle. This includes getting funding to make your dream happen. Latoya worked hard to be able to fund her filmmaking passion. ‘The hustler in me was able to sell thousands of copies of my children’s books, and I put money back into the business to get my film funded. The go-getter in me comes from my parents.’
Making Time for What Matters
Emmanuel and Angela share strategies on how to stay present. ‘One of the things we
practice is meditation,’ says Emmanuel. Listen to what he has to say about getting into the present moment – and how to find your true power. In previous episodes, the couple has also chatted with guests who share their secrets on maximizing entrepreneurial attitude and why choice is your superpower.
Latoya also shares tips on this subject because she has a lot on her plate – running a
nonprofit, creating books and films, mentoring future educators and, most importantly, raising her young son. ‘I definitely use my time wisely. I’m not gonna lie, it’s not easy to manage, but I want it so bad,’ she says. And this dream includes investing in the next generation. For her, it’s about making time to encourage children to pursue higher education and understand their options. She’s also empowering black and brown men to become educators and role models.
